Wonderful

I really enjoy this book and have passed it on to some of my friends and they agree is it funny and enjoyable. We all hope she write more stories about them. Hard to put down.

Action, Sex and Humor

Action, Sex and Humor! Not very often do you get all three, but in this tight, quick read you do. I have to say I haven't enjoyed a gay sci-fi book as much as this one in quite awhile. The characters were sexy, fun and sympathetic, the storyline very easy to follow but full of action and few twists and turns like any good action book. Really good beach reading if you have something to cover your midsection during the alien sex scenes.

Highly creative and original, this M/M romance is amazing!

This one from Laura is a wonderful surprise. I was expecting a M/M romance with hot sex and not much development plotwise. Details of the Hunt completely blew me away. The sci-fi setting is exceptional and rich in details, the plot most original, fast paced and engrossing and the characters, including the secondary ones, are interesting and beautifully flushed out. The sex is secondary but when it happens, WOW!, it is sensual, erotic and very imaginative. And I love the hot pairing of Talos, an alpha alien hunk, and Aidan, an endearing and quick wit pirate. These two are such extremely well developed characters and most likable. Kudos to Laura's amazing imagination and talent and I hope the sequel is not too far away.

Awesome!

An excellent science fiction adventure! I originally purchased this as an e-book, but happily bought it again when it became available in paperback--it was that good. 26th Century. Talos is an Oracan Hunter who can travel through time. A shady human business man contracts him to bring him an 18th Century pirate named Aidan Maymon for "historical knowledge." Talos gets more than he bargained for from his wiley captive, including falling in love with him. But, how can he save Maymon when he is supposed to be the property of another? The "chemistry" between the bounty hunter and the pirate was believable, and the sex was extremely inventive (and hot). The story had a lot of humor as well since Talos has an affinity for using 19th Century gangster slang and Aidan is constantly in trouble trying to adapt to 26th century technology. The story was very well written, with clever dialog and fleshed out secondary characters. The author obviously put a lot of effort into creating her futuristic world. This is the first in an expected series (yeah!) and was nominated for an EPPIE Award and also placed in the top ten of the 2006 P & E Readers Poll in the SciFi novel category.

DETAILS OF THE HUNT is an awesome book! I loved every second of it!

Eighteenth century pirate captain Maymon is a spirited, happy-go-lucky man who takes great delight in his chosen career path. The only troubling issue in his life is the simple fact that several members of his crew, specifically Perkins, continually challenge his authority. Maymon is very careful to never turn his back on the detestable pirate. One of the few things that Maymon does take seriously is his worship of the Cemi spirits. He makes sure to pay tribute to them by saying a prayer and throwing some of the booty from each pirating escapade overboard. Twenty-sixth century time-traveling Oracan bounty hunter Talos has been asked to retrieve Maymon because of a map leading to the last undiscovered pirate treasure. It's a map that has proven to be undecipherable by the antique dealer who possesses it. Talos doesn't care about the treasure nor does he trust the antique dealer, but he is fascinated by Earthlings. He just hadn't anticipated Maymon being such a fascinating specimen or the intensity of the feelings he develops for him. Mutiny aboard the Jamaican Maid should have resulted in Maymon's death. He was tied to a half-filled wine barrel and thrown overboard into the sea where sharks in a bloodlust frenzy were already devouring the members of the crew who had supported him. As the barrel drags him down, he's rescued by a huge creature who rose up from beneath him. Maymon believes that the creature is a Cemi god who's come to escort him to the afterlife. His last thought before losing conscious is that the tribute he's paid over the years has been worth the sacrifice. Talos observes the events of the mutiny aboard the Jamaican Maid from the cockpit aboard his Oracan fighter which is hovering directly over the wooden ship. It takes him a few moments to realize that the pirate he's after is the same young man who's boldly fighting the mutinous pirates. He doesn't resemble the sketches that Talos tediously studied before setting on his hunt. The moment Maymon is thrown overboard, Talos disappears from his fighter, only to re-materialize underwater where he finds and rescues the infamous pirate and then transports him back to the fighter. Talos secures Maymon and then winks back into the twenty-sixth century. There's no denying that something about the pirate calls to Talos's more primitive senses. Maymon is attracted to Talos as well, but in his time being gay was a death sentence. Of course with his wild antics aboard the Pathos Nine space station, Talos may just decide to kill him and save himself the aggravation. I had a wonderful time reading Laura Baumbach's DETAILS OF THE HUNT. This story combines time-travel with paranormal elements with delightful results. Maymon had me smiling with wicked delight at his playful antics that continuously have everyone in an uproar. It's hilariously funny to imagine this pirate with his cocky-attitude and odd manner of speech creatively relocating other people's assets in a f
