Desert Notes was not what I expected, and I liked it.

I like the poetic tone and gift for story-telling. This is the kind of book that blends data and fact with story-telling and folklore. I also like that the themes of the book are told through obscure metaphor, making the reader really think about and make connections to what is registering within the words.
