A Good Guide for Pictures in Interior Design

Although a large portion of the book is devoted to the pictures themselves -- prints, drawings and paintings -- that is not surprising given Stephanie Hoppens' reputation as a London dealer who has also been in attendance in the major antiques shows in this country since the 1980s. The most interesting aspect for this reader, however, is featured homes showing examples of picture display. Projects by noted interior designers such as Bunny Williams and van Hattum & Simmons are shown along with numerous others. As a reference showing types of mats and frames along with samples of groupings, this is a helpful sourcebook.

I highly recommend "Decorating with Pictures" by Stephanie Hoppen! Firstly, the book is a source of tremendous visual delight and stimulation. Secondly, her writing style, her passion and knowledge of art and it's presentation is extremely inspiring and educational. Her book will be of particular interest to interior decorators, framers, and individuals who would like to participate in the joy of "collecting" art. I am writing a book on "How To Collect Art" and giving local lectures on the topic. I bring Stephanie's Book to each lecture and recommend it to my audience as a starting point for ideas on displaying their art collections. Everyone who sees this book loves it. An art gallery with which I am associated now displays the book in the gallery as per my recommendation. It is the kind of book that inspires the love of art in everyone! I recommend it everyone.
