A Balanced View of American History That Provides For Mature Judgment

The "1619 Project" has created much contention and division among both scholars of American history, and among students, parents and teachers. This new book by Mary Grabar, Ph.D, helps to "lower the temperature" of the fight, by providing many important details of Colonial and early Republic politics and society. Even if you remain committed to the particular perspectives of the 1619 program, this new book will help you perceive a much bigger picture and framework of the problem, and it does so in an even-handed, professional way. The spirit and culture of American constitutionalism has always been one that sought cohesion and unity, rather than internal fighting and polarization. Some parties seek to profit from division; others maintain a larger perspective of national order and strength. Ms. Grabar's new book is part of that larger perspective. A fine work of history.

A Much Needed Work

A thoughtful, in-depth, scholarly work that addresses the most egregious falsehoods promoted by the 1619 Project. Ms. Grabar brings in depth counterpoints through the writings of great and respected historians. A much needed work.
