now you know why David Stark is a genius

David Stark's amazing new book shows clearly why he's widely-regarded as New York's most creative events planner. Anything but formulaic, Stark's book shows the joys of new ideas, executed beautifully. The book is a wonder to thumb through, and so dense with creative energy that it can never be exhausted. Never content with the 'same old, same old,' Stark clearly loves to push the envelope. The surprises in this book just keep on coming. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys beauty -- and certainly for anyone looking to bring some beauty and creativity into their homes, and of course, their events and parties ...

Zoinks!

This book makes you just want to go out and have a party (or two) for no particular reason at all! Each beautiful photograph is layered with details and ideas. David's designs are amazingly unique & wildly creative...and so is this book! Now if I can just figure out how to get invited to one (or two) of his events!

Wholly Original

Turn page after glorious page in David Stark's sophisticated new book and you will discover the true meaning of "live art." Stark, an international event planner, creates living monuments for the philanthropies and individuals whose parties he plans. The only problem? They are temporary. But they live on in Stark's eponymous design book, thank goodness, through the slick photographs that feature his distinctive work. Stark doesn't do mere flowers (although when he does flowers, they are clearly one-of-a-kind). He creates installations as detailed as a dramatic chalkboard backdrop (where event guests are invited to become part of the design) and as simply elegant as a beach wedding (albeit with exotic tents for dinner and dancing). His hallmark is the uniqueness of each event. In the accompanying text, Stark details his out-of-the-box approach to event planning, and one can see quite a bit of the painter that still lives on in him. For Stark, each party is a blank canvas. And after reading the book, one can't wait to see his next brush stroke. Stacey Mindich

Gorgeous New Book !!!

David Stark's gorgeous new book makes you want to skip to the nearest phone and start planning a party . . . With a keen eye cast on all things whimsical, wonderful and worthy of celebration, the pages are filled with delicious photos and anecdotes about an array of extraordinary events ranging from the seemingly subdued to the utterly sublime. What distinguishes Stark's work is that it is serious, yet doesn't take itself too seriously -- it's meant to celebrate happiness, as does this book.
