The story is about a young woman named Cynthia who ran away from home because she felt unloved and unwanted by her family. She felt especially hurt by her step-sister Amber, who treated her poorly and her parents were not doing anything about it. Cynthia visited her paternal grandfather on Christmas day to find out if she was her parent's daughter, as she had begun to feel like a stranger in her parent's house. She also wanted to understand why Amber was her step-sister. After spending Christmas with her grandfather, Cynthia asked him if her mother was her real mother, and he confirmed that she was. He also revealed that Amber's mother was her father's first wife, who had passed away when Amber was 5 years old. Cynthia concluded that her mother was a mistress at the time, making her the daughter of a mistress.
