Dark Inheritance

By Renee Lake

"He said murder-suicide."

With those words, Rosaline Lysgaard inherits her father's estate-and a legacy of horror she has spent most of her life trying to forget.

For the first time since she was thirteen, Rosaline must return to Skummel Manor, the childhood home she swore she would never see again. Her father is dead under horrific circumstances. Her troubled twin brother, Wren, has returned. And the house is exactly as Rosaline remembers it.

So are the shadows.

As the twins search for the truth behind their father's death, they uncover generations of Lysgaard secrets: abuse, violence, forbidden relationships, unexplained deaths, and a pattern of tragedy stretching back centuries. Again and again, the family destroys itself.

But something has been there to witness it all.

When Rosaline was a child, she believed a man watched her from the shadows of Skummel Manor. She spent years convincing herself that he wasn't real-that he was only the invention of a frightened girl desperate to make sense of what happened inside her family's home.

She was wrong.

Something has been waiting for the Lysgaard twins to return, and it wants the one thing only they can give it: their blood.

Now Rosaline must unravel the truth about her family's curse before she and Wren become its next victims. But every secret she uncovers leads to another, each more disturbing than the last, until Rosaline is forced to confront a terrifying possibility.

Perhaps the Lysgaards were never simply cursed.

Perhaps something has been cultivating them.
