Fifth in the "Dallas" novelization series

"Dangerous Desire" is the fifth in a series of novelizations on the 1980s "Dallas" TV series. The books come from the Soaps & Serials imprint of Pioneer Communications Network, which also did similar novelizations of TV's "Guiding Light," "Days of Our Lives" and "Dallas" spinoff "Knots Landing," among others. There are at least 14 books in the "Dallas" series. This one opens with the action of the "Survival" episode of the show's second season. Pamela Ewing and Liz Craig are on a New York buying trip for The Store, while J.R. and Bobby are in New Orleans on business. Pam was supposed to meet Bobby in New Orleans but was unable to get away from her work, causing tension between the two. Then, the plane carrying J.R. and Bobby crashes in a storm. News gets back to Miss Ellie at Southfork, and she's determined to keep it from Jock, who's still recovering from his heart bypass surgery. Sue Ellen, meanwhile, has just met with Cliff Barnes to ask for his help in contacting Rita Briggs, the woman whose baby she wanted to adopt but whom J.R. chased away. There's an attraction between Sue Ellen and J.R.'s arch enemy. Jock overhears Miss Ellie talking to Dallas Press reporter Ken Jackson about the missing plane, and he storms into action, himself, sending Ray off to aid in the search and instructing him to look for "three of anything," the signal for help that he taught J.R. at a young age. After the resolution of that story, the book moves on to the episode "Act of Love." J.R. goes away on another business trip, leaving Sue Ellen free to play with her new toy, Cliff Barnes, who's trying to squeeze some info on J.R. out of her. Bobby is entertaining the first huge deal of his new construction company, and he asks Pam to plan a party for his East Coast business clients who will be visiting in a few weeks. Liz promotes Pam at The Store then wants to send her on her first official buying trip to Paris -- at the same time of Bobby's business party. Feeling queasy (and we all know what that means!), Sue Ellen visits Dr. Jason White. Hmmm ... These books are written in simple language and easy to follow, nice for reliving the "Dallas" days.
