Book Overview

An updated and revised edition of the standard work on the use of critical path methods (CPM) in the construction industry. Describes the mechanics and procedures of CPM in construction planning and works control and demonstrates its application to large and small projects alike. Emphasis is not on the mathematics--the stress here is on the solution of problems commonly encountered in construction practice.

old, classic, useful

Antill and Woodhead clearly expose the step-by-step development of PERT/CPM in a way that the technique can be easily understood. Classic examples such as the construction of Sidney Opera House highlight the applicability. The chapter devoted to acceleration is a must. As any book from the 60s, computational tools are not addressed, but it is not a problem. The point is that this highly recommendable book is to be read to those who want to master the fundamentals of CPM.
