There's more to "PMA" than at first you might think...

Max Maltz and others popularized "PMA" (Positive Mental Attitude) years ago, and one could easily think that these ideas are out-of-date or just plain facile. Furthermore, some of its most enthusiastic supporters have unwittingly contributed to its "Pollyanna" image, with sometimes harmful results. Yet Maltz was way ahead his time, and a thoughtful reading will show you how to make the most of life and what you have, whatever your age and situation. The Cognitive Therapists have since rigorously mapped out many these concepts and tested them empirically, showing their great utility and value. (Although I know of noone among them whom he influenced directly or even through his writings. Check out the books by David Burns, for instance.) I have read and re-read this wonderful little book, and it feels like getting encouragement from an older, wise friend. --Just what I need to re-make my image from someone who simply cannont succeed into someone who can! A close reading shows that you can use his ideas to individually develop your own personal notion of what worthwhile living and endeavors mean to YOU, rather than to someone else. Severely under-rated, and highly recommended.... from a many-time "Failure."
