The best story ever!

It 's a great story with well written characters, I didn't want it to end

One of the best books I’ve ever read.

I have bean an avid reader since age 9. I am now 46. This book absolutely changed my life. Spending time with each character was something I looked forward to each day. I couldn’t put it down. Abraham is so brilliant at making you feel like you are right there. Like you are them and they are you. He weaves your heart into the story as you read it. I have so rarely experienced this in an author. After I read this I went on to “my own country”. It is the author that makes this story come alive and merge deep into the soul. He is exquisite. I can’t wait to read his other two works. I loved this book so much that after I finished it I got the audio version and listened to it too. I’ll probably read it again soon. I’m obsessed.

Nourishes the soul, expands the mind and will change you.

Prepare yourself for a journey to places where you will want to linger. Meet people with intellect, depth of character and whom you hope to emulate. Learn about the art of medicine wrapped in love. Authored by a man who respects his readers and is a master in wordsmith. For those who said it was too long, don’t pick up a 700 page book. For those who love to read, it may not be long enough. Engagingly thrilling and passionate till the end. Well done Dr. Verghese!

Only if you love life and people…

I love this book! Yes, it’s very long, but why is that a bad thing? It was like getting a whole series in one book. Well written, about the intertwined beauty of life. Follow several people’s stories as they meander through time. Appreciate the reality of loss and love, slow changes in time, and God’s hand in it all.

Subtitle: Who will die next?

Too long for no good reason. It became a slog getting through 700 pages of a soap opera with obituaries. I totally predicted what was going to happen so I skimmed the last 150 pages to confirm my predictions. He’s not that great a writer. Smacked of arrogance.

Way too long.

Started out great and interesting but soon got too involved and complicated and I found it difficult to follow...
