These two piano works-Sonata Caelestis and Echoes of the Simurgh (for Lily Maisky)-are pieces born from long nights at the piano, quiet experiments with harmony and timbre, and an attempt to translate certain skies and stories into sound. Sonata Caelestis explores the human impulse toward aspiration and wonder. Its themes are, at once, intimate and spacious: simple motifs that reach for larger arcs. Echoes of the Simurgh is a more programmatic piece, inspired by the mythic bird and written for Lily Maisky; it traces memory, transformation, and the resonant echoes that remain after change.
