A fast, fun read!

Paranormal romances aren't my usual genre, but I couldn't resist this unusual twist on the Beauty and the Beast tale. It was a delightful story! All the characters were extremely likeable, even in their curmudgeonly states! The detailed descriptions of Idaho and Oregon were beautiful. I particularly love books that center their story around a restaurant. I found the part about the Fates to be a bit confusing and hard-to-follow, perhaps because I hadn't read the two earlier stories in this series first, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book one bit!

I read for the story, not for the [adult content]

I was much too engrossed in the story here to count (as other reviewers apparently did) how many kisses were exchanged between the main characters. The [adult content] and romantic tension was always present and believable, and that's what I find most important. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm here online to order the rest. It's not often I come across something really new in romance; this book is the freshest twist on Beauty and the Beast I've come across.

Read it in one sitting

I don't actually read romances. I picked this one up because of the "magic" aspect. What a fun read! I couldn't put it down and next thing I knew it was 3:00 in the morning. I wish I'd known it was the third of three - I'dve started at the beginning!!!!!

whimsical yet cute adult fairy tale

Almost three millenniums ago, the Fates punish skeptic Darius for interfering with Eros' task of firing arrows containing true love to the mortal plane. His sentencing is to match up one hundred soul mates in love, but he must do so in a shrimp short-tempered gnome body instead of his natural handsome hunk figure. After twenty-seven centuries of being the laughing stock of Mount Olympus, Darius has one couple to go.Taking his annual one-week vacation in the Idaho Mountains in which he allowed to return to his normal body, Darius observes triathlete Ariel Summers calmly struggle to stay alive during a rock slide. He helps her and takes her to his cabin, a shocker because the last visitor was Hemingway over eight decades ago. As they fall in love, Darius worries that Cupid stealthily shot him. What will happen to true love when he returns to his gnome form?Perhaps the reigning queen of romantic fantasy, Kristine Grayson provides her audience with her usual whimsical yet cute novel. Whether readers find the story line UTTERLY CHARMING depends on taste because for much of the book Darius is as anti a hero as a protagonist can be even if he saves Ariel's life. Instead he is a dumpy grumpy schlump. On the other hand, Ariel is a courageous soul who goes after what she wants without worrying about the outer wrappings. Thus the audience wonders just whom the human really is. Still the story line is amusing for those readers who enjoy a contemporary adult fairy tale.Harriet Klausner

This is the 1st grayson book I read - it was G rated sweet

If you are looking for a steamy romance, this is just not it. I counted 3 kiss scenes and no description like many of the authors want to give of tongues sweeping into mouths etc etc etc. It is very G rated and I can see by looking at reviews of her other books (that I am debating on reading) that reviewers have complained that the other books weren't really romances because of the lack of romantic scenes. I want to partly agree. I kept expecting the great love scene and the passion, which this simply lacked, but I did find it enteraining, and did enjoy reading it.
