Very readable, and full of simple tricks that work wonders..

Photography always intrigue me. Currently, I have to make do with my point and shoot camera, and sometimes, I wish that I don't have to compromise good, quality pictures because of my camera's limitation. I know that it is possible to take good pictures with 'simple' cameras, but I never knew how. Most of the good pictures I took, was taken from my experience and trial and errors. This book has pointed out other things that I never thought existed, lighting tricks for instance. I used to think that lighting can only be manipulated with a relatively complicated camera. Experimenting with different film speeds, objects, and composition was highlighted in a very comprehensible way, it is almost fool proof. Mistakes, trouble shooting and how to avoid further mistakes were also mentioned. Sample pictures taken by the author were laid out to show the results from various tricks suggested by the author. After reading this book, I instantly bought a different film speed than the ones I normally use, and I can't wait to see the results. Also included was a camera buying guide, which I wish I have read before I bought my camera. Instead of concentrating on the weaknesses of a compact camera, the author encourage his reader to work with the camera. This book is a must for amateur photography enthusiast with only a compact camera at his/her disposal. It's definitely not for SLR or serious camera enthusiasts. But they may find it helpful if they feel sluggish dragging a heavy camera while on a short tour. The usage of the language were not laced with very technical terms, if they were, the author has taken extra care to make it more reader and amateur friendly.
