The life of any person begins with a birth and the final chapter the death of a person. In the case of Jacob Klock, when he was born is not known but we can find some traces of his life before his Revolutionary War service. From there the book goes on to present his service, his family, and some of his successes and failures. This volume presents Colonel Jacob Klock as a commander, and also presents some of the problems he faced on a personal level. He served in what was known as the French and Indian War, he was on the jury which condemned a local witch to be burned at the stake, on the Committee of Safety, as the Colonel for the Palatine District.Klock had Torys in his family, in fact several of them, which raised suspicions amongst the neighborhood.Once more, this book is a gift to the Fort Plain Museum. A short, which is not intended to be a definitive study, but a glimpse into the subject to interest the reader in learning more about this time which was so important to us.
