Cardiovascular risk in rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is associated with high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The aim of our study was to determine the level of cardiovascular risk and to assess the value of exercise testing in screening for silent myocardial ischaemia in rheumatoid arthritis. Stress testing has been shown to be a good method for screening for silent myocardial ischaemia in rheumatoid arthritis. These findings need to be supported by multicentre studies involving larger sample sizes.
