A hard-bitten bounty hunter has no time for love... Heiress Emma Marie Rourke is naive, innocent and very, very determined. She'll find her outlaw father and make it as a singer. Bodine--just Bodine--has promises to keep. And looking for some spoiled flibbertigibbet runaway isn't top of his list. But, dammit, his conscience won't let him rest until he finds her. And at least there's a reward for retrieving her. Protecting Emma isn't the easy job he expects it to be. Bodine is startled when he can't get his mind--or his hands--off Emma's diminutive figure He's sworn to keep her safe--but who will save her from him?
Another female, 19 years old, who thinks she can do it on her own. Yeah, right. Bodine is a bounty hunter that had gotten shot by Rusty Metcalf. Metcalf had shot and killed his twin brother, Josh. Now Bodine is on a trail of revenge. Except he gets sidetracked when Eloise Rourke offers him a thousand dollars to find her runaway granddaughter Emma Marie, and bring her home to Fresno safe and untouched. Emma Marie is on a quest to find her father, Jake Trundy, who was released from prison 5 years ago. Yup! she has a run-in with Red Hurley taking some of his money. He is a mean kind of guy. Bodine, who has been tracking Emma Marie hustles her out of town. Two of Hurley's men just about flatten Bodine and Emmy has to get him out on the trail. One thing leads to another, leaving Emmy responsible for saving Bodine's life. [Can't stand these women? who are willing to hop into bed with someone they have just met.] They don't know how to handle or don't recognize their hormones and sure turn silly. The fur hits the roof when Emmy learns that Bodine intends to marry his brother's widow and son. Well they travel, with a lot of prevarification on Bodine's part and stubborn as a mule on Emmy's part. She is determined to find her father, to see what kind of man he has turned out to be and she wants to sing on stage. It is a well written love story but --- It does make a pleasant read - but the cover sure does not measure up to the descriptions of the characters [except for the horse, Lola, maybe]
Very pleased with the book from this supplier
