I am a thirty-something woman and I loved the book! I know it's meant for teens, but I had heard about it locally and bought it; it gives insight into what today's teen perspective is. I'll definitely read her other ones. Lena
A fascinating look into people's minds

Ever played that game where you watch people walk by and try to guess what they're thinking? Well, Laurie Stolarz does just that in BLEED, letting you into the minds of 10 very different people. The result is a fascinating book that left me wanting more of these character's lives. One unifying element ties these people together--in a single day they will all bleed, physically and also emotionally. It's hard to say which character was my favorite to read about--the one most like me: shy Nicole, who finally gets her chance with the boy she's been crushing on forever. Or the character most UN-like me: the murderer Robby. This is a great read!

In spite of this book being labeled a young adult read, I found it to be an amazingly interesting book. I read it in the span of a day just because I absolutely could not put it down. I have read all books by this author and genuinely enjoy her writing style as well as the book content. I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Bleed is a creatively written novel that explores the lives of ten characters over the course of one day. Each chapter is dedicated to a teenager and the reader gets a brief glimpse into their life. The entire novel reads alomost like a collection of short stories whose characters' lives intersect in unforseeable and unexpected ways. For example, Nicole is in love with her best friend Kelly's boyfriend. Kelly is out of town visiting her father and is about to meet the convicted felon she's been writing to for several years. Maria has issues with self-mutilation and constantly tries to persuade her friends to cut her with pins. Sean cheats on his girlfriend with somebody he never would have expected. Stolarz expertly weaves a combination of stories the reader will remember for a long while. Laurie Stolarz is currently writing a companion novel to Bleed. You can bet this reader will be first in line to devour this forthcoming title.
