An interesting book from a historical perspective

I blundered and did not read all the fine print on this book. This is a reproduction, not an updated edition, of a quite long academic article in the Journal of the National Museum from 1896. The type is small, consistent with a journal article, but readable. There are black and white illustrations in the book, focusing on maps of the range of various species in the islands and measurements of bodies of bird species. This is a good book if you want to look at the history of bird exploration and contemporaneous documentation in the Galapagos. It is not that helpful if you want to quickly determine what a bird is and differentiate it from similar species.
