Beneath His Command
Elara is a ventilation engineer who can hear a failing system before the instruments catch it. When she finds proof that someone is deliberately starving the lower decks of oxygen, she becomes a threat to the people who rule the bunker.
Commander Silas Rook is sent to arrest her.
He should be the last man she trusts. Silas controls the guards, the sealed corridors, and nearly every locked door in Continuity Nine. He is feared for following orders without hesitation. What no one knows is that he has spent years quietly saving people the Crown wanted erased.
Now he has a choice. Silence Elara, or help her expose a plan that could kill hundreds.
Trapped together in a city that never left the analog future of the 1980s behind, they chase the truth through cassette archives, narrow air shafts, fluorescent tunnels, magnetic keycard doors, and rooms glowing with old CRT screens. Down here, privacy is scarce, secrets are dangerous, and wanting the wrong person can cost you everything.
Elara will not trade one kind of captivity for another, even for a man who makes her burn. Silas is used to giving commands, but behind closed doors, she is the one who decides what happens next.
When she tells the commander to kneel, he does.
Beneath His Command is a high-heat, open-door post-apocalyptic romance with enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, a dangerous secret protector, a capable heroine who refuses to surrender her freedom, and a complete romantic HEA.
