More than a Baby - a Lifetime of Love in her Arms

I hope Harlequin knows what a treasure they have in Stella MacLean. Her second Superromance, BABY IN HER ARMS, is the lifetime story of the love between deceased husband Andrew and his wife Emily. At the same time, it's the parallel love story of a second chance at happiness. MacLean weaves the two elements seamlessly together, making us love both the sensitive man that was her husband and the caring neighbor who harbors a quiet and sincere longing for the lonely woman next door. Told in letters and sequences, it draw us into the lives of a loving family. The secondary characters, drawn them with an endearing magic wand are rich and believable and only enhance both a mother's love and the natural expansion of family. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Story of Love and Hope for the mature reader

How wonderful to have stories that really speak to the mature reader. Stella MacLean has woven a great story many of us can identify with, the realities of a long marriage, adult children dealing with their challenges of relationships and parenthood, the joy of grandchildren , and the courage to go on after the death of a husband. A story skillfully woven through found letters from a deceased husband and the friendship and new found love of a friend and neighbour. I laughed, I cried and enjoyed it all ! Watch this author, Heart of My Heart was her first and this is a stellar second publication...!

interesting character driven second chance at love

Over one year ago, the love of her life Andrew died, Emily Martin still grieves her loss. Still with her adult children in need starting with her daughter Zara giving birth to her grandchild, the widow is kept occupied though feeling scatterbrained at times. She finds solace in the letters Andrew wrote her before he died. She also finds their good neighbor Sam Bannister comforting too. Soon after she becomes a grandmother, Emily and Sam fall in love, as she realizes her children are doing okay and do not need her to live their lives. This engaging romance is a warm entertaining contemporary with a strong cast. Emily and Sam are likable protagonists who fall in love at a time neither feels right due to the ghost that ties them together. Although dead for over a year, Andrew is a complete character as readers get to know him indirectly through his letters to his beloved wife and through the memories of her and Sam, and somewhat her children. Although her adult children ignore their mom's needs, Stella MacLean provides an interesting character driven second chance at love. Harriet Klausner
