I've enjoyed this series

I discovered this series about a year ago. Cozy mysteries are a nice change. I liked this one about as much as the rest. And I'm looking forward to reading the latest.

Lori takes a geographic cure

As this novel opens it is a six weeks after the events of the previous novel, AUNT DIMITY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, where Lori Shepherd had been shot. Physically her recovery was proceeding well but psychologically Lori was still suffering, she had nightmares on a regular basis and was unable to cope with her daily routine. Various therapies had failed, possibly because she had not stuck with any of them more than a few days. Her husband made arrangements for Lori, accompanied by the boys and their nanny, to stay in a cabin in Colorado for a complete change and rest. Little did he realize that Lori would soon find herself once again hot on the trail of a mystery, aided of course, from beyond the grave by Aunt Dimity. The AUNT DIMITY series is an odd blend of cozy mystery/paranormal romance. The late Dimity Westwood had been a long time friend of Lori's mother. After her mother's death Dimity had taken over the job as Lori's adviser via her journal. As is usually the case with cozy mysteries the attraction here is not the mystery but rather the characters, in this case Lori, her husband Bill, their five year old twin sons, and her ever expanding circle of family and friends. In this one while there is very little of the familiar Finch characters Lori meets many interesting new friends in Bluebird. One annoying aspect of the series that the author has toned down a bit in the later novels is Lori's tendency to fall for anything in trousers - not an endearing trait in a wife and mother. The overall story arc of these novels is quite pronounced so the series is best enjoyed if read in sequence. This novel in particular draws quite heavily on the events of the previous one. Those readers looking for a challenging mystery should look else where, most readers will reach the solution long before Lori. These stories are light escapism, meant to be read for sheer enjoyment.

Lori Shepherd in the West

This book is interesting because it has mystery, humor, history, interwoven. Lori goes for healing of fears and finds herself in town who fears a home which has a ghost. The caretaker has disappeared. Is he part of a sinister plot or a victim? Within the mystery is the humor that many people are much like the people of Lori's hometown. Do small towns have similar types of people? There is a great deal of histroy of the old mining town with its struggles and hardships. There is compassion. Aunt Dimity remains level headed, but there is an interesting and unexpected new twist in this story. This is an enjoyable book to read.

AUNT DIMITY GOES WEST

I love the way that Nancy Atherton writes her stories, they are clean wholesome stories that the whole family can read and enjoy. Ms. Atherton keeps you in suspense and Aunty Dimity is so sensible and causes Lori to think straight. This book was very good because it had a surprise in it that I had not read in the other Aunt Dimity series - and I have read them all. I believe that anyone who reads this one book will want the whole series as I did when I bought my first book a few years ago, now I have the whole collection and will pass them on to my grandchildren who also loves to read as much as I do.

Worth the Wait!

I feel like I've waited forever for this next in the series book. It was absolutely worth the wait. The previous book was a disappointment because Aunt Dimity was rarely mentioned. In this book you get a bonus, not only Aunt Dimity but a new "ghost" in the blue journal comes through. A great mystery, a friend revisited and a joy to read. Please start with her first in the series so that you are familiar with Aunt Dimity - reading the last first will make no sense. Have a good read.
