Interesting murder mystery in Venice, Italy

This was an interesting murder mystery set in Venice, Italy in the 1749. I have spent quite a bit of time in Venice and enjoyed taking a walk through the city in another time. An unusual thing about the writing and dialog in the book is the use of Venetian instead of Italian words - there is a Venetian glossary on the back of the book. I also enjoyed the main character's sense of humor which also struck me as very Venetian.
