1899. War between the Transvaal and Orange Free State Republics against the British Empire break out. Chris de Beer and his commandos are instructed to take all the gold reserves, Kruger gold coins and secret documents from Pretoria to Machado town in the Eastern Transvaal.
From there they are instructed by General Louis Botha to different areas where they attack and waylayed the British soldiers, trains and provisions. Battles at Donkerhoek and Spioenkop is fierce and the fatalities are high especially on the British Tommies side. 27000 Boers was up against 500,000 Tommies. England had to make a plan or lose the war again as in 1881.
When the British implement the Scoarch Earth policy they burn Boer farmhouses their corn and wheat fields and kill al their livestock. Chris's wife and baby son and thousands of other Afrikaner woman, children and their black workers are put in 29 concentration camps. Many woman and children and their workers die of sickness and hunger. Chris in a daring move helps his wife Lettie and son escape from the Irene Concentration camp.
The Boers fight like tigers in many skirmishes and win, but the burning of their farms and the death of their woman and children force them to surrender in May 1904.
What happened to the Kruger millions after the war? Did Paul Kruger take it? Or did Chris managed to salvage it?
Read about the emotions and the suffering of the people while they are praising God amid the chaos and loss of life. The Boers lost the war in the end, but not their faith in God.
