An "Elixir" For Everything

By Alex Rhetters

Virgilio Vugteveen didn't move to Laberge for peace and quiet-he moved there to start a new scheme. A sleepy Midwestern town is perfect for a man with a chemistry set and a plan.

His latest scheme? Sell homemade "elixirs" that promise motivation, love, and relief-all bottled in repurposed hot sauce containers. When a widowed mother becomes Virgilio's most loyal customer and her sons start connecting the dots, cracks begin to show in his scheme, revealing addiction, suspicion, and something much darker beneath the surface.

Now the locals are hooked, the cops are circling, and the longer he stays in town, the greater the likelihood he might be spending time in a prison cell. To survive, Virgilio will need more than charm-he'll need to decide where he stands. Does he continue to wreck lives, or does he try to make amends?
