All That Glitters by Linda Howard A love story by award winning author.

A complex love story that keeps your interest with twists and turns. A real page turner. You will enjoy this read!

Great read in its day!!

I read this book many years ago and thought it was GREAT!! For those of you who read this book and were dissippointed need to understand that this was a GOOD READ FOR ITS DAY. This book came out around the 1982(???) time frame. If you're going to read the re-releases of many of the romance authors (not just Linda Howard) eariler works (especially series in the mid 80's and earlier), expect the novels to be more reflective of books written in its time period and not todays.

FIVE STARS, BABY!!

What are all you guys talking about . . . I LOVE THIS BOOK!! This was my first Linda Howard book and it's the one the got me hooked on her. I could go so far as to say that this is one of my favorite books (although Duncan's Bride is my absolute favorite so far). I know we all have our tastes but don't go trashing a book just because it doesn't fit yours. Why do we read romance novels anyway? I, for one, read it for the heart-tugging emotions and this one was a real cryer. So what if the heroine isn't an all-men-are-pigs feminist, she's just sweet the way she is. And the hero, well, don't tell me you never had the secret fantasy of a tall, dark, powerful (if not domineering) man sweeping you off your feet, even if it's only just a fantasy. Hey, nobody ever said romance novels are supposed to be realistic anyway. All I want from a book is some emotions, to feel sad when he or she is hurt and elated when they finally live happily ever after. Call me sappy but I'd much prefer that to a cold lifeless book where she is suitably spineful and he is agreeably sensitive. There's way too many of those out there, whose authors are too afraid to stick their neck out and write a great book, however impractical the storyline may be. For all those out there who's never too busy for a good cry with a heart-wrenching story, this is a real keeper!!

A rollercoaster ride

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It created many emotions in me, and the characters were very real. I've read and re-read this story over 12 times, and I have 3 copies of the book. Between the lines, there is a message.

Read It and Decide for Yourself!

I liked it. I still do. Of course, I'm partial. Linda Howard is a great author and it is a good book. The first time you read it, I'll admit you get angry, but then read it again. After a little time passes reread it, the masterful craftmanship that was always there shines through. It is not quite so infuriating the next go round. Still intense. Still Howard.

I used to agree with the other 12

I very much used to hate this book. Until I re-read it. Somewhere between the horror of the wedding and the triumph of the end, I realized that the characters acted very much with their established roles. It could not have been easy to create two such complex people, but I came to realize that there was no real winner in the fight and there was never meant to be. Love triumphed. They both had to give a little. I hate to say it, but I think Jessica relished her role as victim because it gave her the upper hand, That was her weapon and believe me she used it. I don't necessarily see it as weak, but decide for yourself. I find it very similar to Howard's An Independent Wife. The book has merit. Read it once to make youself angry, then let it settle and read it again.
