Nothing But P'Gell

"All About P'Gell" is a great collection of classic Spirit adventures centered around classic femme fatale P'Gell. The stories are reprinted in black and white. Contains the complete stories "The Portier Fortune", "Saree", "The School For Girls", "Saree Falls In Love", "Il Fuce's Locket", "Black Gold (The Lands of Ben Adim)", "Competition", "Money", "Assignment Paris (The Spanish Jewels)", "Teachers Pet", "The Seventh Husband", "A Ticket Home", "The Loot Of Robinson Crusoe (The Island Of Pearls)", "Staple Springs", "L'Spirit", "The Incident of the Sitting Duck", and "The Capistrano Jewels". P'Gell's first appearance is not included since it was reprinted in the previous "Spirit Casebook". The book is very encompassing, as it also includes outtakes from 2 stories "The Portier Fortune", and "Competition", where the stories were "rerun" in the strip with new openings and endings (which are presented here). The book also contains P'Gell's cameos in the comic as well ("Caramba!" looks intriguing enough that it should have been reprinted entirely). Overall, the stories show the originality of the writing and art of The Spirit. When compared to other comics at the time, anyone can spot Eisner's greatness. If you come across a copy, it's well worth picking up (unfortunately it's usually priced pretty high). DC should really reprint this and the first "Spirit Casebook", making them more affordable and easier to obtain.

9-Jack-9 is one of the most scarey villians ever.

Scott McCloud is one of the most intelligent and careful comic creators today. Zot had me laughing, and cheering. It kept me breathless and made me shudder in shock. Brilliance. How could I have not read this sooner. The worst part of the book is the ending....because you don't want it to. ~D.W.Brubaker
