Comprehensive for webbies and videophiles both

This book is amazing. I have some experience with Flash video and video production techniques, but I felt like I had a lot of gaps in my knowledge. This book covers everything I need to know, and the included code is priceless. If you want a robust Flash player, with auto-detect, auto-update, etc., but don't care to learn the ins and outs of Actionscript, just use what's provided. You'll have Player up and running in minutes. I ended up sharing the book with our Video Production team, too. They used a lot of the instruction about good compression, proper aspect ratios, and creating alpha channels for FLVs.

Just what I was looking for

My company bought other Flash Video books, but this book had the ActionScript 3.0 code I was looking for. The DVD included with the book rocks--I've always wanted to test HD footage in Flash, but didn't want to spend too much time looking for huge files on the Internet. The DVD has lots of HD content to use as sample content.

Reinhardt Does It Again

What's amazing about Robert Reinhardt's books is that they're incredibly easy to follow. As a relative newbie to Flash video, I don't quite understand all the thick nerd-speak you find in some books but this book is not only easy to understand but FUN (I love his examples!). Also, other reviews refer to the book's CD-ROM, but the book actually comes with a DVD-ROM packed with over 8GB of files!

The samples alone are a must have for learning, and presenting.

This is by far the best video book I could find to help me not only understand video in flash but also to teach clients as well. This book was a great help when it came to explaining the ins and outs of streaming to my clients. It teaches not only how to compress and stream the video for the best performance but it also goes through a useful chapter regarding hardware. It really reveals a lot of information that most people overlook. It also helps a great deal that the book comes with a HUGE library of examples in a CD Rom, along with HD samples as well, NICE! The samples alone are a must have for learning, and presenting to your clients. It will really WOW them.

This is the one resource you absolutely need for Flash video production

I use Flash to produce online learning applications. The major trend for course development today is to engage the learner; put another way, a good course uses a context familiar to the learner so that they can readily identify with what they are learning. An excellent way to do this is through video. Robert's Flash CS3 Professional Video Studio Techniques is as good a learning tool as it is a production reference. By the end of the book you will be able to produce and deploy video using Flash. The book begins by guiding the reader through an overview of the video production process. There is something there for everybody, from the newbie to the experienced multimedia developer. I found the sidebars to be an excellent resource; there are notes and tips. Notes provide additional details on something in the main text while tips offer workflow or process information. Other chapters in the book deal with individual steps of the Flash video production process, from video capture and compression to building a player and making informed deployment decisions. The book comes with a DVD that includes over 7 GB worth of samples, video, classes, tools, and more. I teach Flash at a community college and plan to wrap a Flash video production course around Robert's book. It's that good. [...]
