Nice little book!

This is a very handy little book to have for your medical library. It is easy to follow, has a nice index to look up your particular problem and doesn't bog the reader down with a huge history and medical jargon of accupressure. It has easy to use pictures too. I have used it already to help my annoying neck and shoulder pain! Sure beats a $50.00 office visit (and most likely, a 3rd or 4th) to your doctor :)

Easy to follow

Guide is easy to follow and helpfull for everyday ailments. Lots of pictures!

Could have been better

The strengths of this book are in the concise explanation of the techniques of acupressure and the clear illustration of the location of the acupoints. The layout is nicely done, too; each condition is on a double page spread with a brief explanation on the left-hand page and illustrations on the right-hand page. However, a little more thought on the indexing would have improved the book a lot. For example, PMS or things related cannot be found in the index, but are included under "dysmenorrhoea". Otherwise this is a great little book.

Easy to use and great for pain relief

This is an excellent guide for the inexperienced layperson.I have given copies to friends here and abroad and recommended it to many others including an allopathic doctor, as a good companion to have nearby, for relieving pain that would otherwise require a visit to a doctor or taking painkillers. The diagrams are clear and easy to follow. Make sure you read the guidelines at the beginning of the book and generally avoid working on damaged bones or wounds from recent operations. You don't have to know the exact acupressure points or terms or a lot about the human anatomy to get a result. If the point that you press is sore, it is generally the point that you need to press. There is no need to use a lot of strength. Sometimes the person whom you are helping may be too frail to take the pressure or has a low pain treshhold. Just ease off and continue pressing on the spot until he or she can take more pressure. There are many acupressure books in print. What makes this unique is that Dr Kenyon has selected a very EFFECTIVE COMBINATION OF ACCUPRESSURE POINTS for the problems that I have succesfully used to help my friends and relations with relieving intense pain in eg the hip, shoulder (frozen shoulder), hand, feet, wrist and neck. Also for diarrhoea. In my limited experience, a result is generally obtained overnight. The relief on their faces is soemthing to behold.I was going to order a few more copies of this book when I found that it was out of print. I hope Dr Kenyon will seriously consider updating this wonderful book. It is so helpful in giving the layperson CONTROL and INDEPENDANCE in maintaining his own well being and certainly will save the National Health System a lot of money. If anyone reading this knows Dr Kenyon please let him know of my request for a reprint.
