A much needed reason why book for the holiday season

Santa and the Christ child is a favorite symbol of the holiday season at our home. This book helps to explain the reason and meaning of Santa Claus but also shows that he too knows the true meaning of CHRISTmas. I would recommend.

This is a must have book!

I found this book at a local holiday craft fair in November 2006. I browsed through it and just had to have it! I took it to work (I teach at a Christian Dayschool) and we decided to use it as the theme of our Christmas program. Of course, we had to condense some of the history parts quite a bit (for 3-4 year olds) but the main theme is understandable for the kids. Our Christmas program is going to be held December 18... and I am so excited! I know the parents are just going to love it! Finally, a book about the true spirit of Christmas!!

Wonderful resource for parents!

Finally a story that doesn't just preach about the comercialization of Christmas, but attempts to reconcile the true meaning of Christmas (Christ) with the history of Santa. My four year old loved it (although there are still a few sections above her head) and I did too!

A Special Place for Santa

I agree with the first reviewer. It is an excellent book for those who try to keep the true meaning of Christmas sacred, yet enjoy the celebration of Christmas. Santa has become a very important part of Christmas tradition, and this book helps explain how historically that occurred. Reading this book will become a part of our family traditions, at least as long as we have children at home. I am trying to find a hard cover copy for my church's library.

Invaluable Resource.

I have to admit after searching years for a book that would help me reconcile the concept of Santa Claus with the birth of the Christ Child, "A Special Place for Santa" was a gift from Heaven.Imagine an author being able to combine the life of St. Nicholas and the birth of the Christ Child in a way that both historical figures were honored.I cannot say how disappointed I was when I loaned out my copy of this great book to a friend and never had it returned. I was even more disappointed, after losing the book, to find out that the book was no longer in print.I am continuing my search for this book as I wish to use it in the future. I believe that the book and its content dealing with both the life of St. Nicholas and how that life relates to the life of Christ is an invaluable teaching tool for all ages of folks, both young and old.I thank Ms. Pieper for writing such a wonderful book.
