Was really hoping to like this. Loved the idea and title, but the story itself… not so much. Reads very one note. Humor is lacking and the attempts at wit just seem forced. It’s very much like listening to a computerized monotone voice for an extended period of time. I did try, but it just try’s so hard at every point. I just could not care about any of the characters. They were just very two dimensional and stereotypical characters that I was not able to find anything worth being interested in. The main character just grated on me. I just disliked her with more as the book went on. I would definitely not recommend. Was an arc read

Wild times and a body or two!

I mean, it is pretty amazing if you can kill a guy in your living room and then go on to hosting a birthday party for you son without losing your cool! Lalla Rook won't let anything stop her and makes her lists (which may include murder and blackmail) on how to get the life she dreams of for herself and her family. I do love how goal oriented she is and while I don't always agree with how Lalla gets things done, I did have great fun reading her story, which gets pretty wild (no surprise when you don't care about legality in getting what you want!) and rooting for her as well. I had to keep reading Lalla's story, because while sometimes her choices in how to get her daughter into a good school, disposing of a body, or murdering someone, framing a friend, getting her husband promoted, and finding money for a down payment on a desirable house work, they lead to unexpected hilarious consequences muddling her to do list. Plus there are detectives snooping around and a mother in law who is happy to see her fail and wishes better for her son. It is a wild ride of a novel with lots of funny moments and a great ending that proves the title true. This was a great debut and I can't wait to see what this author might come up with next! Or more Lalla who is awesome! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this!
