Bertrice Small Does it Again!

This has to be by far one of the best written books I have had the pleasure to read! There are only 2 authors I absolutely recommend for the best historical romances and Bertrice Small is the absolute #1. The second would be Jude Deveraux with her Montgomery Saga's and "A Knight in Shining Armor" which is an absolute must read!!

one of her best books

I bought this book three years ago, but put off reading it because I didn't think I would like reading a book about reincarnation. I couldn't put this book down. I think it's one of her best books (along with Adora and Beloved). Wynne is one of my favorite Bertrice Small heroines - she was strong and very likable. I actually liked her with Eadwine. Their story was my favorite part of the book.

Loved it-Couldn't put the book down!

I was so spellbound by this book, and as a huge fan of Bertirce Small, I have to say, this remains one of my favorites. It weaves in some Celtic mythology into a an interesting tale of reincarnation. I am surprised by some of the reviews but to each his own I suppose-this ISN'T one of your sappy, steroetypical romance novels, this tends to go a little deeper than "Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy regains girl" type of books. I highly recommend it.

I liked this book so much... I KEPT it!

The library will not get this book. I liked the fact that Ms Small had three different stories going in this book--which did not confuse me in any way. I was unsure of the beginning when Brys of St. Brides tried to force a betrothal from Wynne (Rhiannon). I was grateful when Nesta (Angharad) was able to tame his warrior spirit. I almost stopped reading the book when Wynne (Kitty Williamson) went to Rys of Cai to try and force a truce between Madoc (Pwyll of Dyfed) and his half brother. Rys (Bronwyn) was even worse as a man, beating a servant girl to death for spurning his attentions, selling Wynne into slavery, and buying her son to raise in hatred as he was. I was surprised that Madoc (Old Dhu) was able to find his wife, known as "the whore if the hall", dressed in disguise as a half-wit. The ending was sad. I got a good laugh when Caitlin who assumed herself the prettiest, got the cousin with the worst teeth. (LOL) But she did pack her mother-in-law off to a nunnery after catching her with the baker. I am keeping this book like I said.

Magical and Exciting

This is probably my favourite book by Bertrice Small. Every time I read it it just gets better. The reincarnation/time travel aspect is unique, and the love story that goes with it is wonderful. Wynne and Madoc go through so much to be together, you find yourself hoping that they will overcome all the odds in their way. The descriptions of Wales are magical, you can almost smell the trees and see the castle. The villian is evil, and yet you hope that just maybe he can be redeemed. The ending is a bit sad and somewhat unexpected, but makes you believe in happily ever after. This book just gets better with each read. A must read for time travel fans and all lovers of romance!
