TOP NOTCH MILITARY STORY - STRONG HERO!

Strong Hero with a problem - drinking and drugs - can not tolarate them. Three of the "Sister in Arms" have developed problems - Each makes a wonderful story. Eve Paris, Anna Shale, Samantha Hall and Meg Gallagher. Carrie Bishop is dead. Luis Ortiz is running guns or drugs and has a very complicated scam in operation which involves using Delta Force Major Tom Wild. Tom introduces Anna to Julio Ramos, better known as JuJu because of his liking the candy, at JuJu's bar. Foster has been promising Anna a comprihensive investigation into Tom Wild and then she finds out that Wild had her investigated. Who the devil could she trust? Foster was threatening her career. And he made her get in painful implant. Sam made Foster give Anna a shut-off beeper. Ha! Ortiz kept stringing Tom along, promising a close-up meeting to inform him of why he was hired. Pepe was a bear of a man who was Anna's childhood friend. He also knew how her mother was killed. The intrigue was woven skillfully through the plot to keep you guessing. The characters fit into the story to round out the plot - with passion not overriding the plot but skillfully used to keep the plot moving. Sam has been in touch with Anna and trying to help her with the problem presented by the drug for pain. Another excellent piece of intrigue. Tom and Anna have some very real issues to resolve and kept stumbling toward the solution. Tom wants revenge for Manny's death and Anna wants to salvage her career and to live down the trauma of her experiences when she was fourteen years old. Her aunt pimped her and now Luis was doing the same. I loved the resolution of the plot [even when Sam turns up missing - great connection to the next story]. Wildman almost blew it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -m -- keep all of her books - they rate a space on your bookshelves.

A raw, intense story

US Army Delta Force Captain Tom Wild goes undercover to obtain information of the deadly deed Panamanian terrorist Luis Ortiz has planned. Tom makes himself available for hire as an explosives expert making him a valuable asset to Ortiz. Tom also seeks revenge for the death of his friend, and partner, whom was murdered by Ortiz. Tom blames the death on Ortiz's trusted cousin, Anna Shale, a former US Navy lieutenant. Tom does not trust Anna whom is suspected of passing military secrets to her cousin. Tom holds them responsible for Manuel's untimely death and will not stop until his death is avenged, even if he has to seduce the lovely Anna Shale to do it. A DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENT is the second book in the Sister In Arms military series. This story was just as intense and explosive as the first book, holding nothing back. Candace Irvin puts a lot into romantic suspense, strong characters, real-to-life drama, and explosive military action, keeping a reader on the edge of their seat. The romance in A DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENTbetween Tom and Anna is hard earned but satisfying. The hero and heroine, strong and determined that they are, deserved their happy ending. This was a raw, intense story but very good which I enjoyed a great deal. And Irvin has set up the third book (IRRESISTIBLE FORCES, Jan '04) quite nicely...I look forward to reading it!!--Elizabeth Benway

"The second installment in the Sisters-in-Arms series!"

This is the second Sisters-in-Arms book about sorority sisters who've formed a bond and would do just about anything for each other. If you read the first book in the series, CROSSING THE LINE, you might recall that Anna Shale had been accused of treason and was kicked out of the military. She has no choice but to go back to Panama to her scum-sucking cousin Luis but there's an ulterior motive behind this.Undercover agent Tom Wild was given the job of taking the place of the previous agent, Manny who was murdered in cold blood by Luis right in front of Anna. Anna feels like it's her fault that Manny was murdered. When Tom first meets Anna she's under the influence of pain pills for a very good reason but Tom jumps to the conclusion that she's addicted to drugs. He's lived through this very thing with his mother and his girlfriend before so there's no way he's going to even remotely get involved with Anna. What Tom doesn't know is that things are not what they seem.Even though they don't know it yet, Tom and Anna are both on the same side. What will it take for them to finally realize it and start working together to take Luis down once and for all?This book was intriguing from the get-go. There were some twists to the plot that I never even saw coming until they hit me right between the eyes. This was a fabulous story that I read in a matter of hours. Readers are going to be thrilled with the edge of your seat suspense, and hot sexual tension between Anna Ortiz Shale and Tom "Wildman" Wild as they are in the middle of a mission to bring down bad guy Luis Ortiz, a man who is crazy and deep in drugs and gun running. Anna is in disgrace with the Navy and fled to Panama to live with her cousin Luis. She is really undercover and living on the edge as she is gathering information against Luis for the government. Tom Wild is also working undercover and is hired by Luis to be his new demolition man after the man before him was killed when his cover was blown. Luis wants Anna to keep Tom in line by being his lover. A DANGEROUS ENGAGEMENT is a one sitting read filled with so many twists and turns you don't want to put it down for fear you will miss something. It is tight and edgy and the sexual tension is enough to make you feel like blowing up. Tom and Anna are terrific. Ms. Irvin has really created some realistic characters you can dig your teeth into. This book is about trust, and by damn if you know who to trust in this book that takes you up the ladder and back down with a whoosh when it comes to knowing whom the good guys are from the baddies. You won't don't want to miss this book, or any in the series. It is top-notch entertainment. I love this Sisters-in-Arms series featuring Samantha Hall, Anna Shale, and Meg Gallagher, who formed a military sorority when they attended the University of Texas. Eve Paris and Carrie Bishop round out the sorority. These gals are tough and fast thinking go-getters when it comes to action and getting things done. The men paired with them are to die for. I can hardly wait to read Samantha Hall's story IRRESISTIBLE FORCES in January 2004 from Silhouette Intimate Moments. Candice Irvin gives you "must-read" stories time after time!
