28 years of love, one weekend at a time

28 Summers … a story about a love that is one weekend a year, for 28 years. it’s always hard for me to read stories about cheating, especially when it’s a character i love. and i did love “our boy Jake” … he fell in love with “our girl Mallory” in the summer of 93, when he was on a break from his long term relationship, and after his friends left him alone with Mallory. over the years, he kept coming back for labor day weekend, and they more or less repeated what they’d done the first year, with a spin here and there. also, in between, they had seen each other at each of Mallory’s brother’s many weddings. as time went on, they led separate lives, except for their “same time next year” weekend. (that’s a movie, i’ve never seen it.) then one day, it all came crashing down. i’d give this book a 4.5 stars out of 5. i loved it, despite the cheating, despite some sadness here and there. elin hilderbrand is definitely a favorite author.

Read in 2.5 days!

I couldn’t put this book down! Great summer read!

The premise of this is a little far-fetched, but I fell in love with Mallory and the life she created for herself on Nantucket.
