Taste for all

I have to say that I disagree with those individuals who believe this is not a good book. Yes some of the drinks do call for ingredients that I never heard of, but I reside in New York and we have a wine and liquor store here that sale all forms of mixes and alcohol from around the world. So my problem would not be finding ingredients from this book but more of price of some of the more expensive, elaborate liquors. I have to agree, having the pictures right next to the drinks helps a great deal. There are drinks for all holidays and even for the summer. They even have a section for virgin drinks, which all of the drinks can be virgin drinks by excluding the alcohol.

What to look for in a cocktail.

The book has full color photos of such a variety of cocktails, I had fun just looking at the pictures. I really like the fact that not only are there recipes in the book, but also how they look when presented the right way. It also showed what was needed to start with, i.e. types of glasses, bar gadgets, fruits etc. It was really informative to a beginner like me. I just started to entertain more at my home, and this book is a wonderful asset.

The pictures are beautiful in this book. Even if I don't make any of the drinks, it's fun to look at. The recipes are easy to follow and fun to read.

Excellent book for beginner and beyond

This is the best mixed drink/cocktail book you could ever buy! Barker does an excellent job compiling a delicious assortment of drinks, and every time I look through my book, I find another drink I want to try. The cocktails are divided into 5 different categories (with the categories explained at the beginning of the book) bubbly, long, short, fruity, and quirky. He also has a section on the history of cocktails, techniques, tricks, and equipment. He gives an explanation on the different types of glasses, along with pictures; how to mix, shake, or stir; and suggestions for garnishes. What I absolutely love about this book is that almost every single recipe has a picture of the drink next to it. Not only is this book a must have for the home bartender, it is also a fun and interesting book just to have around. I highly recommend this one!
