"As books on statistical analysis go, it is a real value." --Kaye Weber in Respiratory Care "I found this book describing 100 statistical tests in 216 pages a useful reference book for me as a practicing statistician. This book covers comprehensively the most commonly used and the not so commonly used statistical tests. . . . The author is to be commended for compiling all the relevant statistical tests into one resourceful reference book." --Raji Sridhara, M.D. in Statistical Methods in Medical Research "This book needed to be written, and the reaction of everyone I have shown it to has been ′why hasn′t this been done before?′. . . I cannot praise this book too highly--it is a godsend for practitioners who are competent statisticians but who need a sourcebook for precise details of all the various tests. Every OR department should have a copy " --Journal of Operational Research Society "Overall, this book is a good reference for a user with a knowledge of basic descriptive and inferential statistics and reasonable skills with arithmetic formulas and notation. This reference covers tests not commonly found in other sources." -Nursing Research "One of the features that makes this an attractive book is the built-up displayed equations. They are presented more as they would be written on a marker board as opposed to being set on a single line. The typography is also very pleasing. The tests are complemented by a set of 39 tables of critical values. . . . Every person who does statistical testing should have a copy of this reasonably priced book on a handy reference shelf." --Journal of Quality Technology As the number of tests has increased, so has the pressing need for a single source of reference. Bringing together the 100 most commonly used tests, this volume provides just such an indispensable aid for student and statistician alike. This is the essential resource on statistical tests. An introduction discusses the principles of hypothesis testing. Examples of the procedure for selected tests follow, illustrating statistical method in practice. The purpose of each test is summarized and a classification chart identifies their interconnections and contexts of use. 100 Statistical Tests consists of clear, concise outlines of the objective, method, strengths, and limitations of each test, giving sample data. All the relevant tables of critical values are also included. This volume is an invaluable addition to the bookshelf of anyone working with applied statistics and quantitative methodologies throughout the social sciences, business, and management.
I bought an earlier edition of this text ten years ago. I've found it to be extremely useful. The tests are clearly explained with just enough information to be sure they are correctly applied and properly interpreted. The numerous tables in the back of the book assure that the right sampling distribution is used with each test. I don't use the book every day or even every week, but it's good to know it's there when I need it. Occasionally I leaf through it just because it's fun to do so. Money well spent!

Nice book to find out of the way stat tests for engineer and design related efforts. Also for process control and clinical testing.
Useful reference

A very useful general reference; even thick textbooks usually list only a subset of these tests -- and not in a uniform reference.
If you have the data but still can't explain your conclusion

then this book is for you. Do you want to know if you were discriminated against, at some confidence level? Do you want to know if the moon phase affects the NASDAQ? If Bush High School seniors score an average of 74 and Gore High School seniors score an average of 73, is Bush High really statistically better than Gore High? These are just a few of the millions of tests that can be done with this book. If you believe in the saying, "In God we trust; all others bring data," then you'll love this book, especailly if you can force your peers to use it.
Very Succinct, Efficient, Applicable & Effective!

This reference text gives busy people at work exactly what they want, the way they want it. They know their data needs, so they look up the clear list of tests to find the test that meets that need, and follow the simple steps to implement it: assumptions, method, equation, and a brief example. No theory, no blabbing, just to the point and ready for use. Saves time, and reading. Also, having so many tests saves the hassle of looking for a specific test somewhere in the library. This is a complete investment!
