As the long summer days fade away, many of us look forward to the cozy season ahead, picturing ourselves curled up on the couch, wrapped in blankets, and reading a good book. So, it's the perfect time to find your newest series, ensuring lots of reliably good reading over the next several months. Here are sixteen series we're adding to our TBR lists to carry us through the darkening days of fall.

These are the series the internet is obsessed with right now. 

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, Vol. 1  

Over the last several months this historical fiction series by Beth Brower has taken the internet by storm. Set in 1883, the epistolary novels are told in the form of the journal of the titular character as she documents the curious realities of her life at home in the fictional London neighborhood of St. Crispian's. 

The Silence of the Girls 

This summer's box office smash hit, The Odyssey, ignited huge interest in Homer's ancient works, as well as a variety of retellings. Each book in the Women of Troy trilogy by Pat Barker reframes the events of Trojan War (Iliad) and its aftermath (Odyssey) from a female point of view.    

Dungeon Crawler Carl 

The aliens have come, and they've transformed Earth into a televised multilevel, video game-like dungeon. Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend's cat, Princess Donut, are fighting to survive—or just get to the next level. Matt Dinniman's zany LitRPG series has been a staple on the NYT Best Sellers list for months now. 

Game Changer 

New York hockey vet Scott Hunter's romance with the cute, sexy Kip is an instrumental side story in Heated Rivalry, HBO's megahit adaptation of Rachel Reid's steamy hockey romance series. Book #7, Unrivaled, comes out in 2027 alongside season two of the wildly popular show!

The next book in the blockbuster Empyrean series by Rachel Yarros is a collection of thirteen stories starring your favorite characters and their dragons. Fourth Wing begins the story of Violet Sorrengail, a bookish, fragile young woman who never intended to become a dragon rider and warrior.  

Miss Wolcott's Ghost  

In Still Life, the first mystery in series by Louise Penny, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache Inspector of the Sûreté du Québec, arrives to investigate a murder in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines. In the 21st book in the series, now a resident of the bucolic village, Gamache investigates another puzzling murder. 

A Court of Splintered Harmony 

As Prythian picks up the pieces in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, an insidious threat is stirring. Romance, danger, and intrigue return in the sixth book of the high fantasy ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas, a BookTok sensation since book #1, A Court of Thorns and Roses, came out in 2015.    

All In: A 6:20 Man Thriller 

When a fearless war correspondent Theresa Lee is shot on a storm-swept Manhattan street, The 6:20 Man, aka former Army Ranger turned federal investigator Travis Devine, is called in. David Baldacci's series of high-stakes thrillers centers on a former soldier with a complicated past.

Open Season  

Joe Pickett is the game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won't take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular, putting him in some dangerous situations. The 26th thriller in this series by C. J. Box comes out in a few weeks.

Dune

The Cold Dish 

Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series has been adapted into the hit drama Longmire streaming on Paramount+. The mystery series follows the hardworking Sheriff as he investigates snarly situations and works to keep the peace for his family and community in Absaroka County, Wyoming.  

The Deal 

Amazon Prime's frothy, new Off-Campus TV series is based on a collection of five romance novels by Elle Kennedy. The popular series follows four college hockey teammates as each finds love. Fans will want to look for the Collector's Editions with hardcase design, printed edges, designed end papers and more. 

The Hunger Games 

Sunrise on the Reaping, the newest novel in the YA dystopian series by Suzanne Collins has been one of 2026's bestselling books. Like each of the previous books, this prequel following Haymitch as a young tribute is getting the big-screen treatment with a star-studded movie coming out in November.
