M.C. Beaton, born Marion McChesney in 1936 in Glasgow, Scotland, is a popular writer of romance and mystery novels. She produced more than 100 Regency romances under a variation of her maiden name, Marion Chesney, as well as pseudonyms Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine, Helen Crampton, Charlotte Ward, and Sarah Chester. Using the pen name M.C. Beaton, she has written many popular mystery novels. Beaton lives in a cottage in the Cotswolds.
