Bestselling American spy novelist Daniel Silva began his writing career with a temporary assignment to cover the Democratic National Convention as a journalist for United Press International. Securing a permanent job, Silva was transferred to the Washington, D.C., headquarters and later appointed as UPI's Middle East correspondent based in Cairo, Egypt. After returning to the states for jobs at CNN, he acknowledged that his real dream was to become a novelist. His first novel, The Unlikely Spy, quickly became a best seller, and Silva devoted himself fulltime to his novels. Born in Michigan in 1960 and educated in California, Silva now lives in Washington, D.C.
