God isn't dead, but He is evil Earnest Fielder arrives in Heaven in time to witness God's #2, Lethe, bowling for planets, while His Eminence naps. In desperation, Earnest volunteers to save the Third Planet on the Left from Lethe's second ball. His mission is to return the populace to God's good graces. On Earth, he discovers from the Probe of Prophets, that he is the anticipated Voice of God's opposition. This group of seers includes a Spitter, a Wind-Catcher, an Origami Master, a toothless Coloratura, and other equally unpromising folks. Gargoyle, a granite slab with a significant secret, is Earnest's transport and constant debate opponent. These two are introduced to the Fire, the Smoke, the Wind, the Journal, and the Voice of the artificial life forms, Yorick. Though bodiless, Yorick metaphorically joins hands with Earnest to save the world. This plan is disrupted by the revelation of secrets, betrayal, a rebellion in Heaven, temptations, and the arrival of the Diadem. How will it all fall out?
