Legendary Writer of the West

Zane Grey's novels of the west are legendary--Riders of the Purple Sage; Heritage of the Desert; The Vanishing American; Western Union; and so many more. With this book Stephen May attempts to explain how the surrounding environment affected Zane Grey as to what he wrote. And he succeeded. He goes in to some depth about the actual creation process that Zane Grey used to obtain the necessary material to write one of his books, Wander of the Wasteland and The Vanishing American as examples. Mr. May examines Zane Grey's personal life, and the bouts of depression and insecurity which plagued him throughout life. This book belongs in any collection by anyone who has an interest in Zane Grey and his works.
