A Challenge to Authenticity

Your Own Jesus contains a timely message for Christians today. In the book Mark Hall addresses our tendency to replace "serving Him" or "worshiping Him" for truly knowing Him. No more relying on the faith of others, it's time for us to have our own relationship with Christ - Your Own Jesus. The book, while written in a very non-confrontational style, is a challenge to get real and grow up in our faith. At times the writing felt a bit like Mark was talking to a youth group - not surprising given that he is a youth pastor. But before I could let myself off the hook because of my age, the book would challenge me and remind me that having my own relationship with Jesus is needed at all stages of life. In fact, walking with Jesus everyday is life. I would recommend the book to anyone and everyone. The true life stories woven through the chapters add depth and meaning to the message. As an added bonus, fans of the group Casting Crowns will enjoy the way song lyrics have been applied to various sections of the book.

A must read for everyone!

This book was everything I expected from Mark. His insight and storytelling are amazing as usual. His truthfulness is refreshing. It's one of those books that you find hard to put down! Readers familiar with his music (Casting Crowns) or his other book (Lifestories) will recognize that Mark uses his song titles as Chapter subtitles and the "God lines" of his songs throughout each chapter to give a poetic depth to each story that he tells. I especially appreciate Mark's vast knowledge of the scripture and the way he proves so many points throughout the book by quoting or referencing it. An absolute must read written by a greatly talented, but amazingly humble, Author/Youth Pastor/Singer/Songwriter/Performer/Teacher!

A must read for Christians from all walks of life.

When I had the chance to read and review "Your Own Jesus", I jumped on it. Being a huge fan of Casting Crowns, I knew that the messages I would find in this book would make me think about the world differently. Mark Hall did not disappoint. After reading just a couple of pages, I knew I would be recommending this book to everyone that I knew. Hall's goal in "Your Own Jesus" is to elaborate on the meanings and lessons from CC's album "The Altar and the Door", and he does just that. The messages I read in each and every chapter were extremely powerful. I am a counselor at a youth Christian camp, and you can bet on most of my lessons and devotions with my campers coming from this book. Thank you Mark Hall!

This book is awesome! Mark Hall writes in a way that all Christians can understand and relate to. Go along with Mark as he shows you how to have YOUR own walk with Jesus--not your Pastor's or your Sunday school teachers, but one where you can say-- "I KNOW JESUS INTIMATELY!" (The way it should be) This book will keep you interested from beginning to the end. Mark writes about struggles that ALL Christians go through (including himself!) and how God uses those moments to Glorify Himself. I highly recommend this book if you feel like your relationship with Jesus is lacking and learn how you can be closer to Him more than ever!
