You Deserve This Storm

By F Cosgrove

She came back for the house. She didn't plan to stay.

Orla Brennan left Ballinderry at eighteen and didn't come back for twenty years. Her reasons were ones she had never told anyone - not even Declan Riain, who drove her to Shannon and said goodbye and somehow understood that she wasn't explaining herself, and who had been here ever since.

Then her mother dies, the family house is being sold, and she has two weeks to clear it before the buyers arrive.

A November storm cuts off the Loop Head peninsula. The road closes. And Orla finds herself in the family kitchen at four in the morning with a man she has been trying not to think about for twenty years - who already knows the shape of the thing she never told him, and has been waiting, without asking, for her to be ready.

Set against the wild, stormy Atlantic coast of West Clare, You Deserve This Storm is a novel about what we bury, what endures, and the particular courage of going home to something you left unfinished.

Perfect for readers of Marian Keyes, Cathy Kelly, and Hazel Gaynor.
