YOGA for Healthy Bones

I've checked this book out of the library several times and finally decided to get my own copy and one for my senior family members who are experiencing osteoporosis. This book has photos of the poses and alternate poses if you can't yet do the full poses. Explains in detail how yoga strengthens your bones and what it does for you. A great reference guide. Also provides asanas!

Excellent reference

Quiet Mind, Healthy Body: The Art of Low Stress Living By Nancy Tan, Yoga Instructor, Author of QUIET MIND, HEALTHY BODY: The Art of Low Stress Living, Psychotherapist I was delighted to find this book when preparing a workshop on yoga for healthy bones. It is easy to read and understand, and was one of my important references. I particularly appreciate the positive focus on what we can change in our living habits to help prevent osteoporosis. So often we forget that "we are what we eat" and neglect the obvious link between diet and health. I think this book is a great resource for anyone interested in healthy aging.

I was recently diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis. I am 54 with the bones of an 85 year old. I was at first shocked followed by depression, frustration and despair. I bought a stack of books on osteoporosis, all informative and valuable, but it is this one that gently turned me around, opened my heart and inspired me out of the depth of my depression. Linda Sparrowe writes beautifully and yet with an authority that makes me somehow trust her to guide me back into a yoga practice to help myself heal and strengthen my weakened bones. She has helped heal my fragile heart as well as my fragile bones. I felt I must write this review and help it get the 5 stars it so richly deserves. Thank you, Linda, for helping me so much with your sensitive, encouraging book.
