Buy this book! It is excellent!

Easy to read and understand. Offers clear and practical steps of application. I have purchased and read six different books on Y2k. This book has truly the most balanced perspective I have read on the subject - complete with facts and documentation, yet concise and to the point. Dr. Gauss is a Christian and has, unashamedly, written the book in that perspective including scripture references. However, the book is never "preachy" and would be of value to persons of other beliefs. I especially like the "Points to Ponder" (suggested steps of action) at the end of each chapter. These assist me in applying what I've read to our lives. I also like the various lists included in the book - for example basic supplies, food items, first aid. I have, also, struggled with how to approach our local and state government officials and various companies regarding the Y2k issue and what questions to ask. Dr. Gauss' book offers suggested questions I have been able to ask these people. This book is very reasonably priced and includes a free manual which is actually a 20-plus page very practical checklist. The several addendums at the end of the book alone are worth the price. For example, Addendum 2 is a list of several web sites with related information and places to receive assistance. For the above mentioned reasons and because Dr. Gauss has written his book in an "easy to understand" manner and he has taken the Y2k issue and put it into the language of the common person, I chose this book as the one to buy as a gift for each of my adult siblings and my parents. Since this is the book I've chosen to give my loved ones, I highly recommend it to you as well.

Excellent, easy to read, and full of practical advice.

Mr. Gauss has written an excellent book that is easy enough for non-phd's to understand and very readable. The book does a nice job of analyzing the risks of y2k problems and is very even-handed and I believe correct in his ultimate conclusions. (To see his conclusion one must order the book)The book is not intended only for the believing Christian, but clearly is of value no matter what your belief system. The free manual that comes with the book is worth the price of the book itself. This manual, which is a separate publication, is one of the most practical and helpful pieces I have yet seen for preparation tips and suggestions. The book does not get bogged down in excessive details, many of which will soon be out of date, but instead focuses on the main issues that y2k presents and gives solid facts to back up its disscussion and conclusions. I have read several books on y2k and this one is better than most, especially regarding practical tips. If you are a believing Christian, this book again offers some very practical advice regarding one's focus, spiritual preparation and role regarding the church, without becoming a long-winded sermon. I highly recommend this book for anyone, and was pleased to have obtained one of the first copies hot off the press.

Basic information from a perspective of faith & preparedness

It is hard to believe the very machines that brought us such conveinence, comfort, safety, and efficiency could now possibly turn on us. The possibility does exist, that is the how I felt James Guass presented this spector before us. There appears to be plenty of documented information here to make it obvious that a problem exits without a lot of unbalanced hysteria. The author gives both a plan and a mission to help get prepared if the worst should come for the church and our nation. Faith and preparedness! Great Book!
