a book that will stay with you long after you put it down

I was given this book as a gift some 30 years ago. I remember two pictures from the book especially. One of a small monkey looking back at the photographer with eyes full of sadness and pain and the caption was something like: the question is not can they reason but, can they suffer. The other picture was of a stunning woman in a beautiful black dress with bare shoulders and the caption was: a well dressed woman is never cold. I can't think of another book from so long ago that sticks in my mind like this one. It really is beautiful and thought provoking. I think I'm going to have to buy it again.

The correctly described book, incredibly quickly

This copy of the book was correctly described as a very good paper--I'd have said fine but this was lovely. Looked as if it had never been read. It came almost immediately. Both comments (see my prior review from another seller of the book) tell me with whom to deal with and whom not in the future.

Grace is more beautiful than beauty.

That is one of the photo captions in this wonderful book. I treasure this book. Beautiful photography, and the words are even better.

This is the only photographically illustrated philosophy book I've ever come across. It is thought provoking and inspiring. The photographs are beautiful. It will never be outdated. A good addition to any library.
