Wolfgang Graeser Polymath: His Life and Times

This book, already published as an e-Book, is about Wolfgang Graeser who was a Swiss wunderkind - and more, a polymath. He was born in Zurich in 1906. He committed suicide in Berlin in 1928, shortly before his 22nd birthday; by which time he had achieved global fame, for his solving of the centuries-long riddle-enigma of Johann Sebastian Bach's Art of the Fugue - the understanding of which had long escaped all the grandees of the musical establishment. It would not be an overstatement to say that he had one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th Century, howsoever that it was still only nascent at the time of his death with so much more yet achievable, - even so, one can recognize it as being on a par with such as Albert Einstein, with whom he was acquainted, and Alan Turing. After his death, the musical establishment appropriated his achievement, without according appropriate recognition to this deceased wunderkind and polymath to whom everything was owed - He had achieved global fame - during his lifetime - with world-wide, orchestral and instrumental performances of the work from musical scores prepared by him. The sensation was so great in respect of the first performances of his work that special trains had to be provided from Berlin to Leipzig where the performances in Germany were taking place! This book seeks to reverse, decisively, the injustice. since perpetrated against this genius of a young man. 'The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.' Theodore Parker
