I love James Pattersons books to begin with but this one left me wanting more. I wish I had bought the whole series as when I finished I wanted to keep going. Not your typical witch and wizard fantasy story but sucked me right into the world.

Not for me -- I usually enjoy witchcraft, fantasy stories but not this one. Couldn't finish it, sig

Story chapters were short which made the story flow "jerky". Seemed like new elements surrounding powers and people were just invented and thrown in.

It was alright

I'm definitely not the target reading age for this book. It starts out really interesting, but thing goes down hill into the ridiculous. Witch and Wizard is about a brother, Whit, and his sister, Wisty, being taken from their home and charged as being a witch and wizard, which is illegal. They are sent to a reformatory and sentenced to die. They escape and that's when the story goes downhill. I liked the whole dystopian aspect at the beginning, but it goes from frightening to dumb and boring after about half-way through when the teens make really stupid decisions. There's a part at a Diner where a woman calls them out for having magic in front of the authorities only to be a witch herself and with her coven, why would a fellow witch call them out in front of the very people they fear? It was convoluted and confusing in places, and obviously trying very hard ( and failing) to be funny in others! I had the feeling the authors were trying too hard to have their own take on Harry Potter, and ending up writing bad fan fiction instead.

I loved this book and I'm 37!

Well, another book read by James Patterson! I always love starting the new year off with a Patterson book. This book was great. I loved it. Whisty and Whit are great kids that are out on their own and surving the ultimate life. Just when you thought your life was hard. Jump in to Witch and Wizard. Where brother and sister journey onto a whole new life and a new way of living. COMPLETELY! I couldn't get enough of this book and read it for hours at a time. This is a youth book but it is awesome. I loved the Maximum Ride Books, and this series is awesome!!!! I love these kids. They make me laugh and I feel like I'm right there beside them! READ!!!!

Witch and Wizard

I cannot understand why there are so many negative reviews of this book. I found it very entertaining and it kept my interest. I realize it is young adult fiction but I am an adult who works in education and I enjoyed the book very much. The short chapters actually are good for keeping younger readers motivated and the lack of "depth" in the characters also works for reluctant readers. The book is easy to follow and suspenseful which is always a plus when trying to encourage young readers to discover the joys of reading for pleasure. I have read numerous adult fiction titles by James Patterson and this book did not disappoint.

Great book for tweens and up!

At first I was concerned my son wanted to read a James Patterson book, then I learned that he wrote a line for young adults and teens. This book not only has kept his interest, but he also enjoys telling me how many chapters he has read in such a short period of time. Here is his review: This book is a good book for a person that likes books with wizards in it. I love this book because it got my mind thinking. I really think any person 10-up can read this book. I have recommended it to all my friends. I would read Witch and Wizard two to three times. For my first James Patterson book it was a good read.

Great book for teens...and adults, too

Just received this book for Christmas...read it in one day, absolutely loved it...gave it to a friend who has adoslescent kids, he read it and loved it...now the husband will read it(we are all over 60 years old)...then it goes to our 40 year old daughter and her 10 year old girl...I am sure everyone will enjoy this tale and anxiously wait for the next one...great tale of two young heroes with spirit and creativity who save their world from the New Order (NO) which sounds like some of the old order (Third Reich) that our parents lived through...happy to say that my father was a "Wizard" then...

Witch & Wizard is MAGICAL.

Because of all the publicity and attention this book was getting (the commercial came on almost at least once a commercial break) I decided to buy it. I'm very glad I did. The plot grabs you from the first page and does NOT let you go. I loved the alternating perspective but I wish Whit had more chapters. The book does a good job of FEELING like fantasy without it actually having a lot of fantasy (really it's only Whit and Wisty's powers and the ghost realm). My only gripe is that there wasn't enough character development. The plot was moving at such a breakneck speed that the characters weren't allowed much development. But these problems are small and the emotion, plot twists, and action make up for it. Eagerly awaiting the next in the series!
