In his book, `Winter,' Maneesh Sharma tells an exciting adventure story filled with international mystery and suspense. It is a tale of one man's obsession with an ominous and elusive being with a dark fixation for murder and stealing priceless historical paintings. Alexander is a former scientist living in Chicago who left his job to become an art collector and manage an art gallery with his girlfriend Alexia. He is hired by the Vatican to retrieve a stolen painting from a mysterious man by the name of Winter. His pursuit of Winter leads him on an International hunt in such countries as England, Italy, and the United States. Winter is a mysterious creature disguised as a man who has eerie magical abilities that allows him to manipulate one's thoughts and behavior. Alexander becomes fascinated with Winter's magical abilities and horrified at his thirst to kill. Winter is a narcissistic creature that has been roaming the world and preying on innocence for centuries. The sadistic enjoyment he gets from his relationship with Alexander results in an obsessive need to have Alexander as a balance to his own existence. `Winter' is an action packed adventure story that delves into the true nature of Man. Such themes that emerge include: nature of evil, love, the primal instincts of humanity, greed, selfishness, and our internal struggle to suppress our primitive genetic traits. Much of Alexander's character development centers on his curiosity with the unexplained such as Winter's magical powder as well as Alexander's struggle to make sense of what Winter represents. As Alexander develops, the distinction between him and Winter becomes blurred, and as his obsession becomes realized, readers will be surprised by the results. The narrative contained a few instances of clichés, however overall, it was well written. The plot of the story along with Winter's and Alexander's obsession with one another makes the book a very entertaining read. As well, the plot contains a lot of action and deadly confrontations. The story is a tale about the nature of Man's true self and Man's propensity towards embracing his basic primal instincts. I highly recommend `Winter' to readers who enjoy mystery and adventure wrapped in international intrigue. Tracy Roberts, Write Field Services
An Unforgettable, Gripping Novel

When individuals read Winter by Maneesh Sharma, they will turn each page of this "thriller" with anticipation as the storyline unfolds into a drama of murder, magic, and mystery. The author is very creative, judging by the plot, background description, and the characters he gives life. In the very first chapter readers are introduced to a killer whom they come to know as "Winter." Though he says he is not the devil, he admits to being a true form of evil. He appears to be a supernatural being that kills for energy and scatters red dust over the bodies of his victims. Ultimately, a man by the name of Alexander discovers for himself the power and magic of this red powder. Who is Alexander? He is a man who had been nominated for the Nobel Prize for Biology for his work on cancer before switching to the field of Psychology. But after opening a rare art store, he turned a hobby into a lucrative career with the help of Alexia, a woman he had fallen in love with. She had many connections in the world of art, and soon he had art exhibits that gave him major status in the art community. It was art that connected him to Winter, a seemingly distinguished man who periodically thirsted for death and summoned the hate within him to become a guiltless killer. Why? Alexander, while on a tour of the Vatican with other international art figures, had witnessed Winter carrying out his work which included the bloody killing of a young girl. Winter was very rich because he would steal and sell expensive art work, making tremendous profits. It had been unbelievable that Winter didn't kill him at the Vatican compound, but there was something about Alexander that challenged him. Winter appeared to be ageless with powers beyond the realm of human understanding, and he could easily have eliminated Alexander. Perhaps Alexander was a toy whom he was playing with or was there another reason he allowed him to live? Did he even know why he was drawn to this man? And why did Alexander insist on pursuing him, knowing the danger? There was some kind of inward recognition that neither of them understood. Readers will witness perilous adventure in various locations such as London, Barcelona, New York, and, of course, Chicago where Alexander has his art gallery. Alexander, regardless of the danger, is determined to find out who Winter is--what he is about. But is he prepared for the answers as they slowly unravel? There is also the realization that he has placed the woman he loves in danger. When Alexander finds some of the red dust and experiences some mystical happenings, he recognizes that he too has new powers. He has a powerful confrontation with Winter and learns that he must choose between two worlds. Does and can he make the right decision? This is a story with many twists and turns that delve deep into the human mind. It is well-written and, if readers seek an intriguing tale of adventure, I suggest they purchase a copy of Winter...but leave the
