WILDFLOWER HILL by Kimberley Freeman
A heartwarming yet sad and poignant novel about perseverance, love, sacrifice, and family. I adored this and was fully immersed in the lives of the characters.
Beattie Blaxland wasn’t perfect, but she has compassion, kindness and courage. I felt her pain when tragedy struck and cheered her on when things worked in her favor.
Beattie and Charlie’s storyline was beautiful and tragic. I loved them together even though I knew where it was headed. I wanted to smack the narrow minded, sanctimonious, busy bodies in their town. Some things never change unfortunately.
Oh and Beattie’s letter to Lucy was so perfectly, devastatingly, beautifully written - I legit cried.
While I understand why Emma’s storyline was included, I don’t believe it added anything significant. Beattie’s story had so much more depth; it could’ve been a stand-alone book. That said, I did enjoy Emma’s chapters especially her interactions with Mina and Patrick.
I wish this one had a sequel especially since the end left me with so many questions. Highly recommend!
